LDS running out of wheat/flour?

Since I couldn't find any silver today I went to the local cannery to dispose of some FRN's and had a nice chat with the manager.

I've been wanting hard white wheat since Jan. but he hasn't been able to get any and he says there isn't any word if there will be more.

Says he was told his last order of flour is it. There is no more until further notice.

His supply of hard red wheat is down to a couple dozen bags and he doesn't know if he can get much more.

There have been occasional outages of beans but the supply seems ok for now.

The cannery may have enough of most things to tide over from the month to month deliveries for the typical lackluster times. But any up-tick in interest will clean them out in a few days.

Leadfoot, are you implying here that the Mormons are running out of FOOD?

I'm just stating my observations of 1 cannery and the experiences of 1 cannery manager concerning the supply chain between here and where he orders from. Which in summary are:
1. He hasn't been able to get white wheat
2. He won't be able to get more flour
3. He may not be able to get much more red wheat.

I don't know why or how widespread it is or how long it may last (perhaps until the harvest.) The issue seems pretty much limited to wheat afaik and not food in general. They had the macaroni (yes I know what it is made from) and potato pearls I wanted along with other stuff on the shelves.

I was hoping others who knew more might chime in or perhaps start asking questions.

The one conclusion I did make, and it's no different than for banks or grocery stores, is that the supplies on hand may be enough for normal day-to-day operations but will be woefully short should an emergency occur. It's not the job of the canneries to stockpile for LDS members as each member should have their own.

Well, I hope this doesn't cause undue alarm, but I have to tell you the SOLAR Flux has been carefully measured for fifty some years, and it has been trending down for the last 24 months. It appears that the sun is slowing down a bit.
The current solar flux is at the lowest level since measurements began, so you can expect a rather cool winter, and as far as next years grain crop.... well about 2 billion people better get used to eating rye. the other 4 billion probably aint gonna make it.
